Emergency Response Plan

Events at Kentucky Horse Park

Safety TEC staff will check in with show contact person or designated person upon arrival at the show. Radio channel will be confirmed and a radio check made. It will be the responsibility of show person receiving radio to keep radio on them for communication at all times and will be responsible for the radio.

Safety TEC EMT will be notified by radio of the emergency and its location. Give as much information as possible to make response as fast as possible.

Procedure in case of human accident or injury:

In the event of a medical emergency, the EMT will be notified immediately by radio and given the location EMT  needs to respond to and if possible the nature of injury. It will not be the duty of the EMT to notify the show official.

It shall be the management responsibility to keep all entrances open for an emergency apparatus that will be or need to respond to the emergency. Should other crowd control be needed the KHP Police will be notified.

If an ambulance is needed the EMT will notify KY Horse Park Police and they will call for the ambulance. The location the ambulance needs to respond to will be given to KHP Police. KHP address is 4089 Ironworks Pike.

Safety TEC EMT will not try to fully immobilize a patient with only 1 EMT covering an event. Fully immobilization of a patient will only be done with at least two medical persons covering show.

In the event of an air medical helicopter being needed to transport a patient, a landing zone for the helicopter will be marked by KHP Police or their designated person. This spot will be away from the main horse show area as not to cause more injuries. The whole show may need to be stopped till this emergency is taken care of.

It is not the responsibility of the medical staff to figure out what needs to be reported to governing bodies, i.e. USEF, USEA. The show stewards or TDs need to contact the EMT staff or the owner (Jerry Clemons) for any information needed. We will be happy to help out as much as we can and within the Law of HIPPA.

If an emergency happens following the end of the show, the show manager should contact the KHP Police at 859-509-1450 and/or 911.
